This course guides the students to comprehend the concept of translating documents and interpreting either in English into . It provides the students with the knowledge of translating short poems, news, legal documents and performing consecutive and simultaneous interpreting in a seminar or conferences. This course will be conducted through brief presentation by the lecturer, T-S discussion, S-S discussion, and practices of translating and interpreting.

1. Being able to: a) translate texts from Bahasa Indonesia into English by applying the principles of translation; b) perform simultaneous and consecutive interpreting from English into Bahasa Indonesia and vice versa by applying the principles of interpreting.

2. Understanding the process of translating texts and interpreting.

3. Being able to make necessary decision on selecting the appropriate techniques of translating and interpreting.

4. Being able to be responsible for the written and oral result of translation as well as interpreting.
